2 persons held for duping ATM users

NEW DELHI: Beware of the unknown helpers inside an ATM or else you stand a risk of losing your hard earned money to fraudsters. A similar case of cheats have come from South East Delhi's Jangpura where the two cheats Jitender Mehto and Baccha Lal, both residents of Champaran Bihar duped several men on the pretext of helping them out to deposit money in cash depositer.

A man complained that he was duped of 45 thousand by two persons on te pretxt of helping him to deposit cash in the machine in Nizamuddin. The accused persons were nabbed when they again came to target innocent people at PNB at Bhogal.

Accused persons used to target banks during the rush hours and position themselves near Cash Depositing Machine (CDM). On the pretext of helping out the innocent customers, accused persons used to dupe victims of their money.

"While helping out the victim in depositing his cash, accused persons used to secretly press "Add" transaction button on the CDM and told the victim that his cash has been duly transferred. But once the victim, used to leave the machine counter, accused persons immediately press the "Cancel" button on the machine. Thereafter, the cash which was deposited infront of the victim used to come out of the machine due to the failed transaction and the victim used to fled immediately from the bank," said Chinmoy Biswal, DCP South-East.
