2 men gunned down in Narela
New Delhi: Narela area witnessed several rounds of firing which resulted in the death of two persons who were supposed to be a businessman and his associate on Monday morning. Police claimed that the one person was receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The accused after firing at the victims fled away with cash bag.
According to police an incident of firing was reported at 10.30 am near Old Grain Mandi, Main road, Narela. The victims were travelling by a Maruti Eeco car and were going to bank to deposit cash. The accused who were two to three masked persons on the motorcycle were waiting for them on the way and intercepted the van. Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Rishipal stated that the accused did not wait and started firing in which three persons received bullet injuries. A PCR call was made by a passerby and the victims were rushed to the hospital where two persons were declared dead whereas one person is still receiving treatment.
The deceased are identified as Pankaj (35) and Harish (32). The other victim Amit Goel received injury in the left arm.
On the day of the incident, the regular driver of the victim did not report for duty and another employee was engaged as the driver.
In the midst of the incident, a brave effort was shown by an Assistant sub-inspector Pawan of Narela police station who was on patrolling duty nearby. When he came to know about the incident he rushed to the spot and challenged the assailants but they managed to escape with the looted amount of Rs 25 lakh.
"ASI Pawan chased the robbers on the bike along with a local person but the criminals escaped towards the border with Haryana," said the DCP.
Police sources claimed that they are probing the case from several angles, which include the role of the insider. The deceased was the wholesale traders of pulses and rice. The accused when witnessed the victim car they told them to stop after which they broke the window pane and tried to snatch the bag and started firing. Police were scanning CCTV footages of the area to get the clue of the incident.
In another incident, one of the bad character was shot at in Narela area. The injured identified as Ajay has come out on bail in a robbery case ten days back.
