19-year-old help found dead in Gr Noida home

GREATER NOIDA: A 19-year-old domestic help was found dead at the residence of a doctor couple, where she had been employed, in AWHO society in Chi-5 sector of Greater Noida, said police on Monday.

Police sources said that the doctor couple, who are currently missing, told them that the girl had hanged herself from the ceiling fan last night.

However, family members of the teenager, identified as Shivani, alleged that she was strangulated to death by her employer, who later hanged her body from the fan to make it look like a suicide. Sources said the doctor couple had called police, telling them they found the girl's body hanging from the ceiling fan on Sunday night.

After they reportedly informed her family, the couple then took Shivani's to Yatharth Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Amit Kishor Shrivastava, Circle Officer, Greater Noida said, "The marks found on the neck and head suggests it to be a case of suicide. However, the actual reason behind the death can only be ascertained after the autopsy report is out."

Alleging that the couple murdered Shivani's, her family members along with other domestic helps staged a protest at the hospital. The protest later intensified and moved to the main gate of the society where the couple reside.

Heavy police force was deployed at the spot and senior officers later pacified the angry mob, assuring them of a fair and quick probe into the matter.

"On the basis of a complaint filed by the woman's parents, an FIR has been registered against the doctor couple under sections of murder. The doctor couple is missing since the incident and our search is on. We are not ruling out any possibility and will probe the matter from all angles," added Shrivastava.

The incident was a grim reminder of a similar incident a couple of months in Mahagun Moderne society in Sector-78 Noida, where a violent mob of domestic workers protested and pelted stones on a residential society after a maid working in one of the flats of the society was found missing from a house.
