18-yr-old labourer falls to her death

Ghaziabad: An minor construction worker died after she mysteriously fell from the 13th floor of a residential apartment, Angel Jupiter Society, in Indirapuram on Thursday morning.

Police said they have not received any complaint yet, but prima facie it appears to be a case of either suicide or accidental death.

Cops said the girl was identified as Babli, who worked as a labourer in a flat of Tower A of the society. Babli died after falling through the shaft of the building all the way to the ground floor. Police said that the fall was first noticed by a lift operator and a security guard deployed at the tower.

"The incident took place at around 12. 45 pm. We heard a loud sound which came from the shaft and rushed to see. We saw the girl lying and bleeding. We soon informed our seniors. The labourers were employed by the builder and they do a variety of construction related works," said a security incharge.

"We were cleaning the floors of the flat when she suddenly went out of the flat. I thought that she went out for some work. Then, I suddenly heard two screams calling naani naani. I rushed out but could not find her after looking around. After some time, I was informed from below that a girl has fallen," said Lakshmi, Babli's maternal grandmother.

The girl and her family lived in the shanties located just behind the society, with her family saying they were involved in construction works for seven years.
