18-month-old girl raped by neighbour in Outer Delhi

NEW DELHI: In a brutal case, a 18-month-old girl was raped by a 33-year-old man in Outer Delhi's Aman Vihar. The toddler has been hospitalised and is undergoing surgery after the gruesome act. The police later arrested the accused who has been identified as Rakesh. The police said that Rakesh is a neighbour of the girl.
When the parents of the girl were not around, the accused man raped the girl in Aman Vihar. However, when the family learnt about the rape they informed police. Soon teams were formed by police to get information about the accused and arrest him, a search was launched for the accused and the accused was caught and arrested by the Police.
The girl was soon hospitalised and had to undergo surgery in the hopspital. Her condition is said to be stable. Senior police officers also visited the hospital and monitored the condition of the victim girl.
Narrating the tragic incident, the DCP Outer MN Tiwari said "The accused is a neighbour of the victim. We have booked him under 6 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act . He is married and has been arrested within 24 hours of the incident."
Meanwhile, the DCW chief Swati Maliwal also visited the hospital to meet the rape survivor.
She also urged the Home Minister for a high level meet with the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Police commissioner and DCW. Meanwhile, a team of doctors is monitoring the condition of the rape survivor.
Earlier in October, a 6-year-old girl student was raped inside her school toilet in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar by member of the housekeeping staff. He was arrested later.
