1.5-yr-old raped; assaulted several time by accused, claims family

New Delhi: A 26-year-old man was arrested for sexually assaulting 1.5 year-old girl in Hauz Khas area of South Delhi.The incident happened a day before Children's Day, and the parents claimed that the accused who was a caretaker of the child had assaulted her several times.

According to police, the accused was arrested after they came to know about the incident. The father of the girl told Millennium Post that the incident came to light when her wife saw the girl crying and the spotted blood on the floor.

Victim's father further stated that on the day of the incident his wife came home in the afternoon and repeatedly knocked the door but no one opened the door. When she tried to forcibly open the door, the accused came and opened it. She asked the reason for not opening the door but he made some excuse. She heard our daughter crying and when she found her in another room our daughter was bleeding.

At the time of the incident, the accused was with his another friend who fled the spot. A call was made to the father who was with his friend. Both of them reached the spot and nabbed the accused. The family also claimed that they found the blood-stained clothes of her daughter at the spot and the accused tried to wash it with water.

The victim family had three children according to the parents the girl used to live with the accused for several hours when the parents go for their work. In the meantime the accused used to give other children some money and told them to play outside the house. "I and my wife go to work and we have told him to take care of my child at first she easily go to the caretaker but from few days her behavior changed whenever the accused touch the daughter she used to cry or ran away from him if he came close to her," said the father. The family did not waste any time and reported the matter to the police who arrested the accused and the girl was rushed to the hospital. "That demon took the childhood of my daughter," said the father.

From 2016 till August 2017, Delhi Police registered more than 2500 cases of rape and molestation with the minors. The safety of the women in the Capital remained the top priority of the city police as they have arrested more than 9000 people involved in rape and molestation with women.
