New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Sunday said that they have apprehended juvenile for strangulating 14-year-old girl to death in Shahdara District.

The law enforcement agency found that the murder was the result of the complaint made by a minor against the accused.

Delhi Police said that on March 16, the accused, on the pretext of watching a movie, took her to an isolated location after watching the movie. This was an under construction building next to Welcome Metro Station. He mixed some sedative in her cold drink due to which she became semi-conscious.

He then tied her with the tape he was having and strangulated her and inflicted injuries on her head. Later, he confessed to the crime and led the police team to the spot where the body was found.

The family of the girl told police that she had proceeded to meet some of her friends in the afternoon but her whereabouts were not known. When she did not return till late evening.

Police further stated that from local enquiry and cell phone details, her movement and persons whom she was in touch on March 16 was zeroed upon. "From further investigation, it was revealed that she had been in touch with one of her friends (a juvenile boy). Later, the boy was questioned," said DCP (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav.

She further stated that initially, he revealed that they had gone to an ice-cream parlour together and from there, he had returned home.

Police said that the accused confessed to holding a grudge against the victim due to an incident which had happened in their tuition class due to which he was reprimanded.

"The accused is saying that the girl had complained about him to an adult person and due to which he was scolded," said DCP (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav.
