14 members of family nabbed for theft cases

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday said that they have nabbed 14 members of one family who were involved in several cases of theft.
The accused who were the residents of Agra used to operate in Delhi Metro.
According to police, they have arrested eight persons and apprehended six juveniles while Delhi Metro Police was performing patrolling duty at New Delhi Metro station.
One of the accused, identified as Bachhan Singh (24), was arrested earlier and from his interrogation, he along with his associates had stolen some more mobile phones from the passengers in the Metro train and helped arrest them.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Pankaj Singh stated that during the investigation, they revealed their modus operandi that while committing the offence, they cover a victim from all sides and after pickpocketing mobile, pass to another associate.
"The accused persons belong to Baha Tehsil of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. They are not much educated and are a daily wage worker. Recently, they all started committing thefts in Metro train for livelihood for their family members," said Singh. Nine stolen mobile phones were recovered from their possession, Singh added.
