14-day-old boy rescued from clutches of kidnappers, 3 held
Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police has arrested three persons including a woman for allegedly kidnapping a 14-day-old baby boy from his house in city Kotwali area. Police said that the accused were arrested from Ghaziabad railway station while they were going to sell the infant in Lucknow for Rs 5 lakhs.
According to police, the arrested accused persons have been identified as Sanad Kumar, his wife Satyavati and his nephew Ashish. Cops added that the trio of accused lived in victim's neighbourhood in Kot village under city Kotwali area of Ghaziabad and belonged to labour class.
Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of Police (city), Ghaziabad said the accused persons plotted conspiracy to abduct the child as they wanted to make money by selling him to a party.
"The child was abducted around 2 pm on Monday. Victim's mother had gone out to the market leaving the child in care of accused woman as she lived in neighbourhood and were well known to each other. As when she came back home, she found her house vandalised while her 14-year-old son was also missing. She was told by accused woman that a few monkeys had barged into her house, vandalised the house and took away her son. However, she suspected something to be fishy and reported the matter to police," said Kumar.
The officer further said that the accused persons confessed to have committed the crime.
"Acting upon the complaint received, police launched a probe and rescued the child from Ghaziabad railway station from the possession of the accused persons late on Monday night. Upon interrogating them, they confessed to have committed the crime and told police that they were taking the child to Lucknow to sell him for Rs 5 lakhs to a party," added Kumar. He also appreciated the police teams for working out the case within 12 hours of the child gone missing and reunited him with parents along with the arrest of the accused persons.
Cops said that victim's parents work as a labours and were living in Vijay Nagar area for over three years while the accused relocated to Vijay Nagar just couple of
months ago.
Meanwhile, police are yet to trace the six-month-old baby who was kidnapped from his house on March 25 in Raj Nagar area under Sahibabad police station jurisdiction. Victim's parents have alleged two persons, including a woman, to have kidnapped their son. However police officials said that teams are working on the case and they are expecting to make a breakthrough soon.
