12th student stabs classmate to death over Rs 1,200 debt

Ghaziabad: A 17-year-old boy, student of class 12th, was stabbed to death by one of his classmates after a heated argument broke out between them over exchange of money. Police have registered a case against four named students and have arrested the main suspect in case, who is a minor.

According to police, the deceased identified as, Rahul, was a class 12 student at Saraswati Vidhya Mandir school in Nehru Nagar area of Ghaziabad. The incident occurred on Thursday, when the students had gone to appear for an exam at their school, said police.

Dipti Singh, father of deceased said that after finishing the exam, Rahul had gone to a nearby park with one of his classmates where he was stabbed. "Rahul had given some money to one of his classmates and when he demanded back the money, an argument broke out between them following which the accused along with three of his other friends attacked him with knife and stabbed him at his neck and chest," said Singh.

"The accused then took him to a nearby Ganesha hospital when he fell unconscious and started bleeding profusely. They then called my nephew and informed him about the incident. When we reached Ganesha hospital, doctors referred him to Yashoda hospital where he succumbed to injuries during treatment later on Thursday night," added Singh.

Following the incident, deceased's father gave a written complaint against four minor boys, all students of the same school as that of deceased. "Based on the complaint received, an FIR under Section 302 (punishment for murder) was registered against four boys. We have apprehended the main suspect in the case while the other three are absconding. Upon interrogating him, he told police that there was an exchange of Rs 1,200 which he had borrowed from the deceased. He stabbed him under a fit of anger as the deceased slapped him in front of other classmates," said Umesh Bahadur Singh, Station House Officer of Sihani Gate police station adding that the arrested juvenile was produced before a juvenile justice court and will be sent to correction home.
