11-yr-old Nigerian boy sodomised in Gr Noida school, one arrested

GREATER NOIDA: The Gautam Buddh Nagar police on late Tuesday night arrested a bookseller employed with a Greater Noida-based school, after he allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old Nigerian student at the school, said police.
The victim's family filed a police complaint alleging that accused Ashok Mishra, who lives inside the school premises, had been sodomising the boy inside the school for the last few years.
An FIR was registered against Mishra under Section 377 (sexual activities against order of nature) of the IPC and the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act at Surajpur police station.
"We initiated a probe into the matter and successfully arrested the accused from his residence. We are interrogating the accused and will also scan the CCTV footage of the school," said Girish Kotiya, station house officer, Surajpur police station.
According to police, the Nigerian student was admitted to the school in Class II in 2013.
Since he was admitted, the child's parents noticed his behaviour was becoming unusual and his grades were declining steadily, but the boy remained mum.
Concerned about their ward, the parents started monitoring his activities. Soon, they came to know about the terrible things and once they asked their son about it, they fears were confirmed.
The incident has come at a time when schools in the NCR have been overhauling their safety measures.
The most prominent of such cases was the murder of a Class II student at Ryan International School in Gurugram, who was found dead inside the school's restroom on September 8.
