101 cartons of liquor seized ahead of Holi

NEW DELHI: Ahead of Holi, the staff of Police Station Kalindi Kunj, South-East District have arrested a notorious liquor smuggler namely Pankaj Sharma (32), a resident of Bahadurgarh, Haryana while he was smuggling liquor in a delivery van.

With the arrest of accused, 101 cartons (peti) of Haryana liquor have been recovered. During sustained interrogation, accused Pankaj Sharma disclosed that he is a school drop-out and is native of Bahadurgarh. Accused used to work as a driver of the delivery van.

A few months ago, accused Pankaj met one Om Prakash, a Bahadurgarh resident. Om Prakash used to supply liquor to bootleggers of Delhi-NCR and he lured accused Pankaj to work for him. In order to earn quick money, accused Pankaj agreed to work for Om Prakash and started supplying liquor.

Pankaj used to procure liquor at cheap rates from godowns of Faridabad and used to sell them at higher prices. Accused used to deliver liquor during the night hours and supplied it during the early morning hours, to avoid police interception. Accused Pankaj used to earn around Rs 2,000 to 5,000 for every liquor smuggling consignment. With Holi approaching, the police were on alert to curb liquor smuggling and arrest the liquor supplier and on March 9, the cops laid a trap and arrested Pankaj near madanpur Khadar.
