1-year-old sexually assaulted in Delhi

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, a vendor in Rohini's Aman Vihar area lured a one-year old girl on the pretext of chocolate and tied her in a hideout of his vendor stall and raped her on Monday night.

The minor was later seen in an unconscious state by her parents. She was rushed to a hospital in the area where her condition is said to be critical.

Locals caught the accused identified as Dharmender alias Golu (20) beaten him badly before handing over to local police. Police have arrested the accused under a section of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police said that the accused Dharmender, a native of Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district, runs a vendor stall of chola bhatura in the weekly market in Rohini district areas. He is known to the victim family.

The parents of the victim told the police that the accused had taken away the girl on the pretext of buying her chocolate from the market. When he did not return with their daughter late night on Monday, they become tense and went out to look for her.

Police said the parents reached at his vendor stall but the accused and their daughter were found missing. The parents later discovered the girl tying with their legs and hands at an abandoned place where the accused used to make ingredients of Chola Bhatura for his vendor shop. She was lying in an unconscious state with blood stains and her clothes. The couple rushed her in a nearby hospital where she is undergoing treatment. After the accused was nabbed the locals and vendors thrashed him on the road before handing him over to police. The injured accused was taken to hospital for first aid and later he was arrested for rape. Further investigation is underway.
