1 killed, another injured after truck rams into bike

Greater Noida: A 30-year-old man was killed while another got critically injured after the motorcycle, they were travelling, was hit by a truck early on Wednesday morning near Chaar Moorti Chowk in Greater Noida West. Police officials said that the incident took place due to dense fog which caused low visibility on road.

According to police, the incident took place at around 8 am on the road heading towards Ghaziabad from the roundabout. The deceased has been identified as Robin Sharma, native of Jahangirabad area in Bulandshahr district. He was accompanied by his uncle on the motorcycle who was left with serious injuries in the incident. The injured was identified as Pramod Sharma (45).

"At around 8:15 am, we received a PCR call from a passerby who informed us about the incident. A police team was rushed to the spot who took the victims to Columbia hospotal. Robin was declared brought dead by the doctors while Pramod is critical and has been receiving treatment at the hospital. The body of the deceased was sent for the post mortem and the family was informed," said Anil Shahi, Station House Officer, Bisrakh police station.

The officer further said that the motorcycle was hit by a oxygen tanker while the driver managed to flee the spot after the mishap.

"Some eyewitness told us that the bike was hit by a oxygen tanker. We have received a complaint while an FIR under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 279 (rash and negligent driving), 304A(death by negligence) and 338 (causing grievous hurt) has been registered against the unidentified truck driver. We are making efforts to trace the accused while further investigations into the case are underway," added Shahi.

Earlier, on late Sunday night, a man in his late 30s was killed while another sustained severe injuries after the bike they were travelling in fell into a pot hole along the road at FNG expressway near sector 116 of Noida on late Sunday night. The incident was occured due to low visibility on road due to dense fog.
