Delhi Tourism Minister launches first BITB with ITB-Berlin

Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra announced that the first edition of Bharat International Travel Bazaar (BITB) with ITB-Berlin (world’s largest travel trade fair) will be held on October 3-6 at Pragati Maidan. The event is expected to bring over 500 exhibitors and around 1,000 buyers are set to present.

First Indian collaboration to bring world’s largest travel trade show to Delhi BITB 2016 is spread over 5000 sqm space and will be home to some 300 products across verticals.

The BITB focus on the traditional segments such as hospitality, aviation, states and countries and leisure travel agents and tour operators and give recognition of the new drivers of India’s tourism including online travel and technology, luxury, weddings, MICE and corporate and experiential travel.

The Tourism Minister claimed that this event to transform Delhi’s image in front of the world has got lots of accolades from travel industry experts like KB Kachroo, Rakesh Mathur, Kapil Kaul, Laily Matthew and Naveen Berry who have endorsed and hailed Delhi government’s first tie-up in India for an international trade show which is said to be transformational for the industry.

BITB signals the arrival of Delhi as one of the great cities in the world, which hosts world-class tourism events. With the signing of BITB with ITB Berlin, as powering the show, it has given an instant recognition to the city, as a growing centre for travel and tourism.

“New Delhi has much going for it as a tourist city, with its age-old heritage and culture. It is also a truly cosmopolitan centre. It has so much to offer — world class medical facilities, some of the best universities in this part of the world, and so much living history, in terms of cuisines, cultures,” said Kapil Mishra.

ITB is the world leader in this business. It has matured over 50 long years into what it is today. With over 1 million sqm net space sold every year, it is the annual pilgrimage for worldwide destinations to meet and do business.

It has a waiting list for many years now, as it has no more space left to offer.

Ten years ago, India was the partner country, and the MoT has announced its intention to partner again in the near future. ITB Berlin has a sister event in Singapore, in association with the Singapore government. It has also announced its China show, slated for May next year in Shanghai.

The India show, in New Delhi, is happening almost a year before its China launch. A strong ITB team will be around the BITB show.
