Delhi to get 118 CCTVs

Civic body NDMC will install 118 new CCTVs in central Delhi this year at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore to augment security.

The cameras will be installed in eight commercial and office complexes and 20 electric sub-station buildings, the New Delhi Municipal Council budget unveiled today said.

200 CCTV cameras have already been installed in 10 municipal buildings to augment their security in the NDMC areas.

Asked about the project to install CCTVs at Connaught Place, the requirement for which arose after the 2008 Delhi serial blasts, NDMC chairperson Archana Arora said the work was in progress.

‘Engineers India Limited (EIL) will install CCTVs there.

They are discussing some specifications with the police,’ she said.
