Delhi Police retrieve Pushkar’s deleted texts

“We have retrieved some deleted evidence from her Blackberry, Twitter and so on. We will see if there was any intentional deletion of texts or just a routine exercise. We had sent certain equipment to the forensic science lab, of which, we have received reports,” BS Bassi, Delhi Police Commissioner said.

According to a source in the Special Investigation Team (SIT): “After the probe became murkier and forensic evidences pointed towards Pushkar’s death as murder, a letter was written to the concerned authorities in Mumbai to coordinate with American Agencies to retrieve deleted texts from her electronic devices.”

Pushkar was using Blackberry mobile handset and was active on social networking website — Twitter, from where the sour relations between the couple — Tharoor and Pushkar came in public domain. Days before Pushkar was found murdered in a suite in Hotel Leela Palace in Chanakyapuri, a bitter Twitter controversy (related to the illicit relationship between Tharoor and Tarar) rocked the couple’s three-year-old marriage.

The SIT is closely analysing the retrieved messages. Also, an analytical report of the retrieved messages has been received by Delhi Police from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Gujarat.

“Blackberry is the only handset from which the deleted texts can be retrieved. The texts (both inbox and sent items) get stored in the universal server that is handled by America. If the investigation agencies desire to access the deleted conversations, exchanged within a particular period, the American agency provides the data within a span of six months,” a source said while explaining the process of retrieving the messages.“Similarly the concerned authorities of Twitter and Facebook have been contacted with for retrieval of tweets, messages, posts and other conversations,” he added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police are planning to organise a video conferencing with Mehr Tarar.

So far, she has not been quizzed by the SIT. It is important to mention that in a statement to police, Nalini Singh, senior journalist had said: “Tarar and Tharoor had exchanged intimate romantic messages and one of the messages from Tarar implied that Tharoor was going to divorce her after the 2014 general elections and get married to Tarar.”
