Confirming the incident, a senior police officer said: “We acted swiftly. Constable Kapil was arrested with immediate effect and produced in court.”

The constable was sent to judicial custody.

Some days back, a similar incident was reported from Adarsh Nagar in Delhi where a man was

abducted and robbed by traffic policemen on duty when they saw demonetised currency around one lakh with him.

The two constables then kidnapped the victim in his own car and forced him to drive towards ITO.

The two snatched his mobile phone and threw away his SIM card. The policemen-turned-kidnappers moved in the victim’s car for around two hours and robbed him of the entire amount and left him later.

The constables were later arrested and the money was recovered.
