Delhi police arrests south Indian starlet’s boyfriend

After the arrest of south Indian actress Leena Maria Paul from the capital in May, Delhi police has on Friday apprehended her boyfriend Sukash Chander Shekhar from Kolkata. The duo have been booked for cases of multicrore cheating in Chennai.

The two would browse through the websites of govt departments for tender notices for various supplies. Shekhar would collect data of the suppliers and technical details of the articles to be supplied.

He would then call buyers, posing either as senior IAS officials or someone with good political connections and assure the parties of help in facilitating the allotment of the tenders. By doing this, he would collect huge sums of money from the buyers, before simply vanishing from the scene by switching off his mobile phones and changing his address.

In May, Delhi police along with Chennai police, had carried out a raid at a rented farmhouse in south Delhi, from where Maria who is a BDS graduate was arrested. However, Shekhar who is a B.Tech degree holder and was pursuing his MBA from Banglore, managed to escape from the scene.

An eye-witness, close to Maria said, ‘10 minutes before the raid, Shekhar got a tip-off that a raid might be held at the farmhouse and escaped from there. He left his Land Cruiser at the farmhouse and took off in an Indica car along with his friend-cum-property dealer,Dharmveer and two personal security guards.’

After Shekhar’s arrest, police men have recovered jewellery worth Rs crore, expensive bags worth Rs 3 lakhs, mobile phones, including five Apple phones, along with Rs. 15,000 in cash and currency notes of Nepal and Bhutan from his posession.

Earlier this month, another case at Fatehpurberi police station had been registered against the two by a security guard of the actress, alleging that the couple had taken Rs 3 lakh from him on the pretext of promising him work in an upcoming Hindi film. But they neither gave him work nor returned his money.
