Delhi police arrest mastermind of Modi’s Patna rally blasts

Tehsin has been involved in terror strikes across the country which left 43 dead and 253 maimed and injured. He masterminded the serial blast at the rally of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at Patna in October 2013.

Tehsin alias Monu, a resident of Samastipur in Bihar, was involved in the 2010 bombing at Varanasi’s Sheetla Ghat, Jama Masjid blast in Delhi, Mumbai serial blasts in Zaveri Bazaar, Opera House and Dadar West blast, Pune low-intensity blasts in 2012, twin bombings in Hyderabad in 2013 and the Bodh Gaya blasts in 2013.

SN Shrivastava, special police commissioner (special cell) said, ‘Following the arrest of  Waqas, Pakistani IM terrorist and three other IM operatives from Jodhpur and Jaipur, Tehsin was arrested from the Indo-Nepal border.’ A senior security establishment officer claimed that the recent arrests of Tehsin and Waqas would weaken the roots of IM. ‘The arrest of Tehseen Akhtar was a huge success for the country’s war against terror,’  RPN Singh, minister of state for home, said.

According to sources, Tehsin was planning a fidayeen (suicide) attack in the near future. He had motivated an IM operative to become a human bomb. After his arrest, his uncle Taqi Akhtar, who is a state JD(U) leader, said he had no relation with the family of his brother.

‘On 1 January 2011, when Tehsin was hiding in Darbhanga with Yasin Bhatkal, Waqas and Assadullah, his father reached the house and caught him red handed with explosive material.

Wasim had an argument with the trio and threatened his associates to stay away from Tehsin or else he would inform the police about their activities.  He then took Tehsin to their house in Samastipur. Meanwhile, Yasin fled to Delhi while Waqas and Assadullah shifted to Mumbai,’ the source said.
