They call themselves Hard Rock Sofa. From EDC Chicago to Dance Valley and Pacha Ibiza to Ultra Music Festival, the Russian DJ duo’s global presence has blazed through and Dimension RED got them back to the Capital for a full-house show. We caught up with the guys for a little chat. Read on...
How did you guys come start off?
In 2005 we started off as a trio. All 3 of us (Alexander Shapovalov - producer/DJ, Denis Chepikov - producer/ DJ, Sergey Zuev - vocals) live in the same town, Smolensk. We’d known each other and been friends much longer before we organised Hard Rock Sofa. The two of us (Alex and Dan) were DJing in local clubs while Sergey was performing with his rock band. As Hard Rock Sofa we toured throughout Russia and Europe but recently Sergey Zuev left to pursue his own career as a lead singer in a rock ‘n’ roll band.
What was the first big break for you guys?
Our collaboration with St. Brothers for the single Blow Up in 2011 was a big break.
Tell us about your best tracks
Blow Up has to be our favorite one as it has gained anthem status. But apart from that Here We Go, Quasar and Rasputin have been very successful.
What songs top your playlist right now?
Hard Rock Sofa and Swanky Tunes - Here We Go,
Hard Rock Sofa - Quasar Kaskade and Swanky Tunes feat. Lights - No One Knows Who We Are, Sebastian Ingrosso and Tommy Trash - Reload Avicii and Nicky Romero – Nicktim. Hard Rock Sofa - Starlight, Hard Rock Sofa, Matisse and Sadko, Swanky Tunes – Chemistry Ivan Gough and Feenixpawl feat. Georgi Kay - In My Mind (Axwell Mix), Nari and Milani Vs. SHM - Leave The Atom (Hard Rock Sofa Bootleg) Zedd feat. Matthew Koma – Spectrum (Deniz Koyu Remix).
