Delhi greets a warmer Friday

After waking up to a chilly morning, Delhi residents witnessed a warm and sunny Friday with the maximum temperature in the city rising to 22.7 degrees Celsius - two notches above average for the season. Similar weather conditions are likely Saturday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with cold winds sweeping the northern plains, Delhi is witnessing cold nights, while bright sunshine is keeping the day warm. ‘While sunshine raises the temperature during the day, nights are colder due to the impact of cold winds,’ an IMD official said. The minimum temperature in the city settled at 7.7 degrees Celsius, average for this time of the season. ‘The sky will be clear on Saturday and the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 22 and 7 degrees, ,’ an official said. Thursday’s maximum temperature was normal at 21.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled was a notch above the season’s average at 5.8 degrees Celsius.
