Delhi govt clears 315 projects for rural villages

 In a major move to improve the infrastructure of rural villages in the national Capital, the Delhi government on Thursday cleared 315 schemes worth Rs 480.99 crore. The decision was taken in a meeting of Delhi Rural Development Board chaired by Rural Development Minister Gopal Rai.

The schemes will mainly cover improving roads, drains, water bodies, community centres, parks, cremation grounds, and <g data-gr-id="19">play grounds</g>, among others.

“The government will take all necessary steps to improve the condition of roads, parks, small drains and multipurpose community halls as well to ensure supply of water and electricity in all rural areas,” Rai said after the meeting.

“We have approved 315 schemes to be implemented in the villages which include roads, <g data-gr-id="36">drains ,</g> water body, community centre, <g data-gr-id="37">park ,</g> cremation centre, <g data-gr-id="21">play ground</g> to be implemented in the Rural Villages at a cost of Rs 480.99 crore,” said Gopal Rai. 

He further added that the government will take all necessary steps to improve the condition of roads, parks, small drains and multi-purpose community halls as well to ensure <g data-gr-id="31">supply</g> of water and electricity in all rural areas. “Apart from providing basic amenities to the people of Delhi living in urban areas, the government is committed to <g data-gr-id="30">provide</g> facilities to the people living in rural areas also. He said the board has successfully achieved its objectives,” Rai added.  

On this occasion, minister Social Welfare, Sandeep Kumar,14 MLAs of rural areas, elected representatives from MCD, senior officers of Development Department, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, MCD, Delhi Jal Board etc were also present. 

The major works to be taken up in the scheme are — Integrated Development of Rural Village (RDRV), construction/repair of approach roads/link roads/village roads, construction of drainage facility mainly to protect from flooding, development of cremation grounds, parks, playgrounds, gyms, development of ponds/water bodies, other need based works like drinking water facility, street light. 

These works will be executed by Delhi government departments and civic bodies in their respective areas.
