Defence Colony elderly’s murder: Cops suspect insider job

Even after twenty four hours of the murder of a senior citizen in the posh Defence Colony in South Delhi, Delhi Police are clueless about the killers. However, police are not ruling out the possibility of someone known to him. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when the 73-year-old man was found murdered under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Defence Colony’s B-Block.

Police suspect it to be a case of burglary as the man’s personal laptop and digital video recorder were found missing. “R C Choukhani was found dead in his Defence Colony house. He was found lying upside down near his working table at around 3 pm. A call was made to police at around 5 pm,” a senior police official said.

He was taken to Moolchand hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors, the official said. A case of murder has been registered and further investigation is underway.

According to sources, the circumstantial evidences suggest that there was a friendly entry at the house of Choukhani who was alone at the time of the incident. The post-mortem report is awaited and the initial report suggests strangulation to be the reason behind the murder. No injury marks were seen on his body, police said.

Meanwhile, teams have been constituted and the police are also scanning the CCTV footages and call record details of Choukhani.
