Delhi Police officials were questioning vendors and guards in south Delhi’s upscale Defence Colony Thursday, a day after two robbers broke into the house of an 82-year-old woman and took away her ornaments and cash.
Surjeet Puri was alone at her ground floor residence on Wednesday afternoon when the robbers forced their way in. ‘The search is on for the culprits,’ a police officer said.
Surjeet is the mother of Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Manjeev Singh Puri and wife of former chief secretary of Punjab S S Puri.
According to the police, the two robbers had rung the bell on Wednesday afternoon in the guise of pamphlet distributors. The robbers appeared familiar with her routine, police said. The victim is being treated in AIIMS.
