Decomposed body of man found in Salt Lake flat

The body of a retired state government employee was recovered from a flat at Salt Lake on
Sunday morning.

Police informed that the body was almost decomposed. It was sent for post-mortem.

The police believe that Ashish Gupta, a 54-year-old man might have committed suicide.

His body was found in the irrigation department apartment, after the neighbours felt the smell of foul odour and reported it to police.

Cops from Bidhannagar (South) police station recovered the body to send it to autopsy. “He was living alone. His wife died a few months ago. Probably he was depressed and committed suicide,” a police officer said.

Such incident is common in Salt Lake. It is to be recalled that a skeleton was recovered from inside a water tank at the roof of an under construction multi storied building in DD Block.

The Bidhannagar North police had started investigating the case. Locals said that construction
work of the building at DD-7, close to City Centre mall was stopped for some time after setting up ten storied floors. A water tank was also set up on top of the building.
