Decomposed bodies of 3 family members found

Mystery shrouds the death of three members of a family including a 2-year-old girl whose decomposed bodies were found inside their house. Police have recovered the bodies by breaking open the door of the house. The deceased were Surajit Roy (32), his wife Ipsita Kundu Roy (24) and their daughter Aradhana Roy (2). The local people at Poddar Colony area of Noapara in Barasat felt a foul smell emanating from the house of the victims on Monday afternoon. The local residents had informed the matter to the police who reached the spot and broke open the front door of the house as it was locked from outside. After entering into the room, the police officers found that Surajit was hanging from the ceiling and his wife and daughter were lying dead on the bed.

The incident triggered tension in the area. According to the preliminary investigation police suspect that Surajit might have committed suicide after killing his wife and daughter. Police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder. They were interrogating the local residents and the relatives of the victims.

Police came to know after interrogating the local residents that Ipsita used to work at a private company and she might have been involved in an extra martial relationship with one of her colleagues. The relationship between the two had deteriorated recently after Surajit came to know about her affair. In last few days the couple had engaged in a quarrel a number of times.

Few days ago the woman had gone to her parental home following a quarrel with her husband and again returned home last Saturday. Local people told the police that they could not see the members of Roy family since Saturday and a lock was hanging from the main gate of the house. Many of the local residents felt that they were away from the house.
