Dead body of youth found near residence in Tiljala

Mystery shrouds the death of a youth whose body was found on the terrace of an eatery, situated adjacent to the four-storied building where he was residing late Saturday night.

The police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the death of the youth. A police officer said that the victim Md Daud (22) was a resident of a flat on Tiljala Road and had many friends in the same flat.

Despite being a resident of the ground floor, he often used to go to the first floor to meet his friends. In the first floor of the building, a few players of a renowned football club from Howrah stay as tenants. The footballers have been residing in the flat for a few days now. The victim had two more friends, who are permanent residents of another flat on the first floor.

Police came to know after speaking to the local residents that he used to spend time on the terrace of the four-storied apartment with some of his friends.

Police have also found an empty tube of adhesive and bottles of alcohol from the terrace. As a result, police suspect that he was in an inebriated state and have not ruled out the possibility of the victim’s death due to falling down from the terrace of the four-storied building to the adjacent eatery.

Police have sent the body for autopsy and questioned some of his friends to know that what could have led to his death. They are now trying to find whether there was any foul play behind his death.

When asked whether there was a chance of anyone pushing him when he was standing at the edge of the terrace, a police officer said that they are trying to find out whether there was anyone along with him at the spot, but first they have to confirm what exactly led to his death.
