DDA to set up monitoring panel to speed up clearances

In order to fast track approval of building plans having 5,000 sqm or above for commercial and industrial activity and 10,000 sqm or more for residential use, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has constituted a review and monitoring committee. The DDA V-C would head the committee while New Delhi Municipal Council, Commissioner, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Commissioner, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Commissioner, East Delhi Municipal Corporation along with others will be its members.

Apart from reviewing and monitoring building plans, they will scrutinise and approve the same within 30 days from the date of application. It has been said that all building plan approval authorities will send the brief about all cases within purview of the Committee on the prescribed proforma to the Member Secretary as soon as they are submitted and cases for clearances are sent to the concerned authorities.

The DDA officials said that the newly created body will meet, at least, once every month to review all the cases of sanction of building plans. “It will sort out inter-departmental issues to ensure that the clearances from various authorities are given within 30 days of the date of application. The Committee may call the applicant to its meetings if, in its opinion, doing so will bring clarity and help to resolve outstanding issues pertaining to its application,” said an official of the DDA.
