DDA mulls utilising vacant plots for sports

In order to promote sports, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Friday gave a detailed plan to utilise various vacant plots of the DDA in the city. In the first phase, two such plots at Neb Sarai and Maidan Garhi have been levelled for their utilisation. Sports items for football, cricket and volleyball are being provided to the children of the locality by Saket Sports Complex. DDA V-C Arun Goel, aiming to extend sports facilities to the children, had earlier announced to utilise vacant lands, meant for various projects but lying unused at present as play fields. “Vacant lands, especially adjoining inhabited areas would be identified, levelled and grassed and for maintenance of these play fields, these lands would be fenced, water and electricity connection provided and amenities like drinking water, change rooms, toilets and maintenance shed, provided,” the V-C had said.
