DCW summons BJP’s OP Sharma

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday issued <g data-gr-id="40">summons</g> to BJP legislator OP Sharma in connection with Aam Aadmi Party MLA Alka Lamba’s complaint against him over alleged use of foul language.

“The commission has directed to issue summons for personal appearance to you (Sharma) in pursuance of powers under the provisions of the DCW Act, 1994,” the DCW notice said.

Sharma has been asked to appear before the commission on August 20.

DCW had on Monday issued <g data-gr-id="24">fresh</g> summons to the SHO of Kashmere Gate police station regarding the alleged attack on Lamba during an anti-drug drive last week. Lamba along with SHO Vijender Singh and DCP North Madhur Verma were summoned to appear before DCW on Monday.

While Verma did not come for the meet the SHO was issued a fresh summon for August 20 and was asked to come along with the CCTV footage and status report on action taken in the case.

A case of trespassing, damage to property and preventing government servant from discharging his duty was registered against Lamba, the AAP MLA from Chandni Chowk, at Kashmere Gate police station on August 10 on a complaint by traders.

Lamba was injured when someone allegedly threw a stone at her during an anti-drug drive there. A video clip later showed her <g data-gr-id="26">vandalising</g> shops along with some of her supporters.

She had lodged a complaint on the same day with the DCW against Sharma alleging he used foul language against her and threatened her.
