The Asha Kiran home Superintendent has been asked to submit details of total inmates present (gender wise), sanctioned staff of the home, present staff, medical services and diet provided to occupants,” a DCW official said.

“Whether the home has ever informed the competent authority about the overcrowding and shortage of staff in the home, procedure followed to allow entry of the inmates and procedure followed for their restoration,” the official added.

Taking cognisance of the conditions of mental patients and medical facilities provided, the DCW has sought details regarding the number of mental patients living in each dormitory, status of their mental illness and the staff deputed in there for their guidance.

Details have also been sought by the DCW over steps taken by the home to tackle problem of overcrowding and shortage of staff.

The Superintendent of Asha Kiran has been asked to reply within three days of receipt of the notice.
