Day after man’s death, mob torch six DTC buses

The local residents including family members of the deceased, who staged the protest, attacked a police team that reached the spot to disperse the crowd. Four policemen were injured in the incident. 
The man was identified as Trilokinath, who was a resident of Ranhola. He was a daily labourer. Police have detained the juvenile.

During the interrogation, the youth said he was taking driving lessons when the man came in front of his vehicle. Despite of applying the brake, he pressed the accelerator and as a result his car hit Trilokinath. 

The man was immediately rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. 

Police said the local residents started pelting stones in which the ACP, SHO and two other policemen were injured. The situation was, however, brought under control after an additional force was deployed and police resorted to lathicharge. 

Police said they were investigating the matter. In a separate incident, a cyclist was killed and two others were injured when a car hit them in Govindpuri area on Wednesday, police said. After hitting the duo, the vehicle also hit a doctor’s car.   

The deceased Mahesh was reportedly on his way back home with his friend Nadeem when the incident took place. All three, including the doctor, were taken to a hospital where Mahesh was declared brought dead. 

The condition of the doctor Sanjeev Kasana was said to be critical. According to witnesses, driver Anurag Garg was drunk. 

Police said he was arrested and a case was filed under the relevant Sections of the IPC against him. The police also said they were further probing the matter and that Mahesh’s body was sent to AIIMS for post-mortem.
