CSE launches Know Your Diet to imbibe good food habit

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has launched a tool ‘Know Your Diet’, India’s biggest online interactive tool of food and diet which will allow people to know about their food and dietary habits.

CSE director general Sunita Narain said India needs a clear policy to promote good food. “We cannot afford food that is bad for health and bad for the environment. This tool will help us push for better policy and practices on promotion of good food and create awareness,” said Narain.  She further added that CSE had exposed toxins in food and we felt it was high time we opened a discussion on what to eat.

Deputy Director General of CSE Chandra Bhushan said: “Most of us do not know that what we eat affects our health. Know Your Diet is the first of its kind initiative to help people of India to know about food and dietary habits. “This initiative will ignite good food movement in our country. Eating healthy enables body movements to be executed with ease,” said Bhushan.

The tool has received support from experts and also inputs from doctor and nutritionist help to know what our country is eating .Experts say this tool will give an instant report by ‘main survey’ and ‘mini survey’ and will decide whether people are getting perfect food. “A poor diet with unhealthy food choices can make each movement a major effort filled with stress, strain and pain,” Sonam Taneja of CSE said.
