CPI(M) workers brutally thrash TMC worker’s mother

CPI(M) workers allegedly beat up an elderly woman as her son went to attend a meeting of Trinamool Congress near Habibpur at Bamangola in Malda on Wednesday night. The victim Kakoli Malpahari was admitted to Bamongola Rural Hospital with severe injuries. Around four CPI(M) supporters went to the victim’s house in Madnabati village to enquire about her son. She told them that he went out to attend a meeting organised to campaign for Amal Kishku. The accused started beating her after she told them about her son’s whereabouts. They manhandled her mercilessly with wooden logs and kicked her in stomach. They dragged her by her hair. They threatened her to banish them out of the village. Some local people gathered around her house, but they failed to rescue the woman apprehending further attacks by the CPI(M) workers on them. The accused also allegedly threatened the villagers who gathered in the area with dire consequences if they extend help to the Malpahari family. At the same time they also threatened them to not attend any meeting of TMC. The villagers took the woman to Bamongola Rural Hospital after the accused left the place. The victim later told the police that CPI(M) workers including Shibchandra Pujhar, Shanta Pujhar and Gokul Pujhar beat her up. They threatened her of setting their house on fire if they do not move out of the village soon. Faizuddin Sarkar, TMC president of Bamongola block said, “We demanded immediate steps to arrest the accused. The incident shows how CPI(M) is creating panic among the electorates. We would move to the EC to lodge complaint in this connection,” he said.
