CPI(M) goons assault TMC leader

Trinamool Congress leader ATM Abdullah and his security guard were injured after CPI(M) supporters pelted stones at them at Panigokhra village Wednesday morning. TMC supporters alleged that CPI(M) cadres, who had organized a victory procession, threw stones at the former MLA’s residence, breaking the window panes. Abdullah and his security guard were injured in the incident and were admitted to a hospital.

In retaliation, TMC workers attacked the houses of some CPI(M) cadres and damaged some two wheelers. A large contingent of police arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control. Sixteen people were arrested in this connection.

TMC leaders said CPI(M) cadres were attacking them at many places. The leaders said they had tried to maintain peace, but the cadres were taking advantage of the situation. The victory procession of Abdur Rezzak Mollah was attacked in Bhangar. Four TMC supporters were injured. The attackers had beaten up the victims with iron rods and lathis.

Meanwhile, the Karmadhyaka of Burdwan Zilla Parishad, Golam Jargis was expelled for anti-party activities. Jargis had supported the opposition in the election. The district leadership has started taking action against those involved in infighting.

TMC district committee president Deben Tudu said no leader or worker involved in anti-party activity would be spared.
