The unofficial alliance between Congress and CPI(M) received another major jolt at Suri Assembly constituency in Birbhum with CPI(M)’s one-sided decision to field its candidate.

When the Congress workers in Suri Assembly constituency had all hope that their party will be fielding a candidate, CPI(M) had declared the name of their candidate from the same Assembly seat.

CPI(M) has fielded Ramchandra Dome from Suri Assembly constituency which led to all the trouble. Congress workers in the Assembly seat have started demanding that their candidate should be fielded from the constituency.

Posters and banners with the name of Abhay Bhattacharya as the Congress candidate from the constituency were found at different places in the constituency. It led to a situation of friendly fight between Congress and CPI(M) in the constituency.

Sources said the Congress leaders from the area had also sent a letter in this regard to the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee’s headquarters. But the Congress workers are yet to get any information yet whether decision has been taken in this regard by the senior leaders of the party.
