CPI(M) backed goons attack TMC workers’ houses

Around 5 Trinamool Congress workers were injured when some CPI(M) backed goons attacked their houses at Gadang Kathapara in Dhupguri on Monday late night.   

Police said that on Sunday the Trinamool congress supporters held a rally in support of their candidate. The CPI(M) workers in the area had threatened them with dire consequences for attending the rally. 

Tension broke out as the CPI(M) workers allegedly attacked the houses of the Trinamool Congress workers. They pelted stones at the houses. 

A clash broke out as the Trinamool Congress supporters came out of their houses and retaliated. 

But, being more in number, the CPI(M) workers beat up their rivals.

 Local people came out of their houses hearing them cry for help. Apprehending that they will get identified and caught, the CPI(M) workers fled from the area. All five Trinamool Congress workers received severe injuries and they were taken to the hospital where they underwent treatment. Both Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) lodged complaints against each other with Dhupguri police station. But no one was arrested in this connection till the last report came in.

 Police pickets have been posted in the area to avoid maintain law and order situation in the area. The police are taking steps to avoid any untoward incident when the political parties will take out rallies or when the candidates will go out for door-to-door campaign. A police officer said that additional policemen will be deployed as and when required. Directions have also been given to increase patrolling in sensitive areas.
