CPI (M) joins social media bandwagon, launches its Facebook, Twitter page

With not even a month left for Lok Sabha elections to begin, it is the Left in Bengal to finally join the social network bandwagon. The camp, mostly led by geriatric leaders who have been known to be averse to technology and expanding their social media foot print, has now softened to the new demands of the time.

The state unit of CPI(M) on Tuesday launched its official Facebook page and a twitter handle, CPIM_WESTBENGAL, to reach out to its supporters and voters ahead of the 2014 general elections.

Launching the new media platforms, CPI(M) leader Biman Bose said that the party would use them to counter possible misinformation by the Opposition besides propagating its own messages. West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is already active on the social media as she effectively uses her Facebook page to spread messages which are both political and administrative.
