A special court in Delhi reserved its order for Wednesday on a plea by Ravinder Rishi, chief of Vectra group of companies, seeking a nod to visit Britain for treatment and business. He is an accused in a defence-related graft case.
Central Bureau of Investigation [CBI] Special Judge Talwant Singh reserved the order after hearing arguments from counsel for Rishi and the probe agency.
‘Put up for order for Wednesday,’ the judge said.
The CBI on 10 October opposed Rishi’s plea to go to Britain for medical and business purposes saying that he might destroy evidence and not return to India.
Rishi in his plea said: ‘Grant permission to the applicant [Rishi] to travel to the United Kingdom for a period of 30 days and accordingly direct the CBI to inform the concerned authorities and the lookout circular dated 31 March may be suspended for the period of travel.’
The CBI registered a case naming Rishi and unnamed officials of the defence ministry, the army and company BEML 30 March for alleged offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Rishi is facing a CBI probe in connection with irregularities in supply of Tatra trucks.
