Court dismisses plea against CM

A Delhi court on Wednesday termed as a “publicity stunt” and dismissed a plea seeking lodging of an FIR against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders for failure to deliver on their election promises and misappropriating public money.

Metropolitan Magistrate Harvinder Singh rejected the application filed by Pandit Narender Sharma, a social worker, observing that the politician and other AAP members, against whom the plea was filed, were already facing separate cases for most of the offences alleged by the complainant. In its order, the court held that no substantial interest and harm was caused to Sharma and nothing cognisable was found in the complaint.

It also held that the plea could not be allowed as there was no provision under law to proceed against any leader for his failure to deliver on promises made during election campaign.
