Court directs cops to file FIR against Haryana min for rigging

Gurgaon Civil Court on Monday directed Gurgaon police to register an FIR against Sukhbir Kataria, Haryana MoS for youth and sports, former South Delhi mayor Sarita Choudhary, and 55 others in a rigging case during polling in Gurgaon in the 2009 Haryana assembly elections. The issue came to light after Om Prakash Kataria, an RTI activist and his NGO Matdata Jagrukta Manch, found many fake voter identity cards issued in the name of the minister’s relatives and his supporters. 

Judicial magistrate Mahendra Singh said that prima facie Sukhbir Kataria’s involvement in listing names of people including his close relatives in the voter lists under fictitious ground has been established. Kataria has been allegedly accused of making 32,000 bogus voter identity cards which he used during his election victory in 2009 assembly elections. After the NGO’s complaint, the district administration in its investigation had found 32,000 fake voter cards issued during 2009 assembly elections.

This is the seventh FIR against Kataria till now on the direction of Gurgaon civil court with identical sections of 420, 467, 468 and 120B of IPC in sector 5 police station. Kanoongo Rajendra Hooda, FSO Narendra Singh Kadyan, Holder Satpal, ex mayor Sarita Choudhary and 50 more will also be booked.
