Corinthians to bid for Milan's Pato

Brazilian football club Corinthians will wait until the end of the season to make a formal offer for AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato.

Corinthians' coach Tite had spoken to the 22-year-old by telephone to express the club's interest in a summer move, reported Xinhua.

The conversation was reportedly organized by Tite's agent, Gilmar Veloz, who also manages the Brazil international forward.

'It's not the right time to talk about it. We will wait until the end of the season to give it more thought,' Veloz said.

Corinthians are in need of a striker after the March departure of former Inter Milan and Roma forward Adriano.

The club's continued interest in Pato comes after talks with Uruguayan strikers Diego Forlan and Villarreal's Nilmar reportedly stalled.

Corinthians football manager Edu Gaspar confirmed the Sao Paulo club were hoping to speak to Pato after this weekend's final round of matches in Italy's Serie A.

'We are waiting for the end of the season but it's a deal that needs to start from their end,' Gaspar said.
