Cops yet to revert on Pacheco's parole

The Goa Police <g data-gr-id="22">are</g> yet to write back to prison authorities on the request of former minister Fransisco <g data-gr-id="18">Miccky</g> Pacheco seeking parole for a month to look after his ailing mother.

Pacheco, who was convicted for slapping a junior engineer of the electricity department in 2006, is currently lodged in Sada sub jail since this month.

"We received the request from Pacheco to grant him parole which we have forwarded to the police for their report. We are yet to receive <g data-gr-id="20">report</g> from the police," said Inspector General of Prison Elvis Gomes on Monday.

Gomes said the decision on his parole would be taken only after police reverts with their report.
Pacheco has applied for 30 days parole on grounds that he needs to attend to his ailing mother and look after her.

The Goa Vikas Party leader and MLA from Nuvem was forced to quit the BJP ministry led by Laxmikant Parsekar in April this year after Supreme Court refused to quash his sentence given by Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao in the assault case.
