Cop’s son commits suicide

Son of a Delhi police constable allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the fourth floor of his school in Dwarka. The deceased, a Class XII student of Modern Convent school, was identified as Pravesh Dahiya, 17. No suicide note was recovered from the crime scene, but it was alleged by his friends that his family was pressurising him to get better marks in exams, and he was stressed. The incident took place at 10 am, when Dahiya went out of his classroom, on the pretext of drinking water. He then ran to the fourth floor and jumped off. ‘The school authorities were informed by a student, who later informed the police. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The body has been handed over to the family. The autopsy report is awaited,’ the official said. He added the family, teachers and schoolmates of Dahiya are being questioned.
