Cops recover huge cache of arms from 3 dealers

In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police Special Cell arrested three persons from Sarai Kale Khan and recovered 1,800 live cartridges including ordnance-made ammunitions of 7.65 mm bore, 0.22 mm bore and 0.315 mm bore along with legitimate factory-built SBBL & DBBL shot guns. The recovered arms and ammunition were being smuggled into the national Capital for sale to criminals and other illegitimate users.

Recently, Special Cell had busted a criminal syndicate involved in the barter trade of illicit fire arms. Two persons including a woman were arrested in this regard and two sophisticated pistols and a total of 900 ordnance-made 7.65 mm cartridges were recovered from them. “During investigation it was learnt that apart from trade in Munger-made illicit firearms, some seasoned criminals were also regularly diverting legitimate, factory-built firearms which otherwise require a license to own and carry into the hands of criminals and other unscrupulous elements of society,” Sanjeev Yadav DCP (Special Cell) said.

It was also learnt that factory-made firearms, if pilfered, attract a huge price in the contraband market. On Sunday, an information was received that one Ashok Singh, an arms dealer of Etah, UP, would be coming to Sarai Kale Khan to deliver a consignment. Singh is a key player of the syndicate and owns a gun house in Etah. Accordingly, a trap was laid and he was nabbed with two other persons.
