Cops reach home of suspected chain snatcher, get roughed up

Seven policemen were injured when they were attacked by alleged relatives of man whom they had gone to arrest in a chain snatching case here, police said on Friday.

A police team comprising officials from South Campus and Chanakyapuri police stations, went to Sanjay Gandhi Camp in Chanakyapuri last evening to nab one Shahid alias Mogli in connection with a snatching case, said a police officer.

The policemen were surrounded by Mogli’s relatives who allegedly pelted stones and beat them with sticks. They even damaged the police vehicles. Failing to tackle the situation, the cops called for further reinforcement and finally they managed to arrest Mogli. The police also arrested Mogli’s brother Sabir for allegedly leading the attack on the police team, said the officer. Sabir also <g data-gr-id="13">have</g> several criminal cases registered against him.
