Cops nab man for shooting girl dead, accomplice absconds

Police have arrested Zaki, 21, for allegedly shooting  a young girl at her home in Nizamuddin Basti, when the victim and her mother asked him not to urinate in front of their building.

‘Both the mother and the girl were shot at. The injured were rushed to AIIMS where the young girl, aged 17, succumbed to her injuries. Her mother was also critically injured,’ said a police official.

‘The culprits were identified as Javed and  Zaki,’ he added.

Apparently, when the mother and daughter had objected to them urinating in front of their building, the two men had left after threatening. But they returned in the night and opened fire on both the mother and daughter.

While trying to escape, the men fired in the air near Alvi Chowk to prevent people from getting close to them.

According to the police, both Javed and Zaki have criminal records.

Zaved had come out of jail in April 2012 where he had been incarcerated since 2009. He had been arrested for two cases of criminal assault and armed robbery.

Similarly, Zaki has attempted to murder case registered against him Gulawathi police station in Uttar Pradesh.

The police team traced Zaki, who had surrendered before the court in Gulawathi the very next day of the murder. He had been sent to Buland Shahar jail from there.

‘The search is on for Javed, and we are investigating further,’ said Ajay Chowdhury, Additional Commissioner, south–east.
