Cops clash with Swaraj Samwad protesters at Jantar Mantar

In a bid to vacate Jantar Mantar late on Sunday, Delhi Police had to confront protesters of the Swaraj <g data-gr-id="17">Samwad</g> including Yogendra Yadav, which left half a dozen policemen and a few protesters injured.

The confrontation began when a team of Delhi Police reached Jantar Mantar area and asked the protesters who were staying in tents at Jantar Mantar to mark their protest, to vacate the area due to security reasons.

According to a senior police official: “When a team reached the spot, the protesters denied to vacate the area. In the meantime, Yogendra Yadav, who was staying in one of the tents, opposed Delhi Police’s action. 

“The protesters who were having heated arguments with the police attacked them with lathis. In <g data-gr-id="16">self defence</g>, the policemen too attacked the protesters,” the official added.

However, no case had been registered till late Monday evening.
