Controversial ashram vacated in Rohtak

The district administration on Tuesday decided to get the controversial Satlok ashram in Karotha village vacated immediately to end the stand-off which started on Sunday.

District magistrate Vikas Gupta imposed section 144 in the village and appealed to protesters locked inside the ashram to come out of the premises.

He also appealed to the protesters gathered outside the ashram to disperse and return to their homes.

The decision to get the ashram vacated has been taken to ensure peace and harmony in the area, he said.

Gupta appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony, and co-operate with the district administration in this endeavor.

Meanwhile, Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda appealed to the followers of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha and Satlok Ashram to keep their emotions under control and maintain peace and harmony.

Hooda warned that legal action would be taken against those found guilty of indulging in acts of violence and assured that no one would be allowed to disturb innocent people.
